2011 Montevetrano Colli di Salerno IGT

(92 Points) The 2011 Montevetrano is 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Aglianico and 20% Merlot. This has been the blending configuration since 2010. Back when the wine was first made in 1991, Cabernet Sauvignon was by far the greatest part of the blend (at 90%), but the native Aglianico grape has slowly grown in prominence over the years. This great Campania-blended red shows very nicely in the warm vintages such as 2011. It reveals dark and succulent fruit flavors with bold cherry, blackberry, mild spice and leather.  Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
