(93 points) Corton “Pougets” can often be a bit marked by its structure out of the blocks, but the elegance of the 2011 vintage has worked its magic on this climat and the wine is about as suave a young Pougets as I can recall tasting from Louis Jadot. The deep and very refined nose jumps from the glass in a blend of red and black cherries, gamebirds, woodsmoke, fresh herb tones, a very complex base of stony soil tones and a nice touch of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure and properly reserved, with a rock solid core of fruit, firm, ripe tannins and outstanding focus and grip on the very long and youthful finish. A superb Corton. Drink between 2025-2075. (12/2012) John Gilman
