Winery Notes The Cardiac Hill Vineyard is located in the Yamhill-Carlton AVA. The nose is wonderfully earthy with peat moss and white truffle tones shining through. Beautifully balanced, the wine showcases red fruits mingling with citrus rind and a strong acidity. Give this outstanding wine at least an hour decant prior to enjoying.
Planted in 1995, Cardiac Hill is the steepest hillside of vines in our entire vineyard. Roughly one acre in size, this block has 1200 vines/acre, and is planted with Pommard and Dijon 115 clones. The soil at this site is quite different than in the main blocks of our vineyard—ribbons of clay throughout the block result in increased vine stress. These conditions contribute to lower crop levels and unique flavor profiles in the finished wines.
