45% Corvina, 50% Corvinone, 5% Rondinella, 5% Oseleta
The healthiest and ripest bunches of grapes harvested undergo a particular drying process (Appassimento) which takes place, on plateaux, in naturally well- ventilated rooms. The grapes lose at least 40% of their original weight, concentrating sugars, aromatic compounds and noble tannins. In January the grapes are gently pressed and fermentation begins at the low winter ripening temperature (13-17 C). Transfer for 24 months in 3500 and 5000 lt oak barrels of various origins and compositions, then aged for 12 months in concrete tanks.
During some days of wintertime temperatures went at -5°C. Springtime started earlier, but on April 21st we had a terrible frost that burned many vineyards in all Europe. In the Musella forest there are a lot of deers that eat gems and fruits, so we had a 15- 20% production shortfall. Droughty summer brought to a earlier harvest, started the first week of August. It was a hard and difficult Vintage, but the quality of grapes in the end is excellent.
