2012 Comptche Ridge Vineyards Pinot Noir Mendocino

2012 Comptche Ridge Vineyards Pinot Noir Mendocino image

(94 points) "Wonderfully layered and sensual in the glass, the 2012 Pinot Noir Comptche Ridge is all about texture, silkiness and polish. Dark red cherry, plum, licorice, smoke and star anise are some of the many notes that grace the palate in this exquisite, layered Pinot. The 50% whole clusters add lift, but are also beautifully integrated. The Weir brothers own Comptche Ridge, a remote, dry-farmed site in Anderson Valley. Anthony Filiberti farms the vineyard and makes the wine, half of which is bottled under Filiberti's Anthill Farms label, while the other half is bottled under the Comptche Ridge Vineyards label. The wines are identical. More importantly, though, Comptche Ridge is emerging as a site capable of yielding exquisite and distinctive Pinots." Vinous
