2010 Reinisch Rotgipfler

2010 Reinisch Rotgipfler image

Rotgipfler, a natural crossing of Traminer and Roter Veltliner, is a pale-skinned variety indigenous to Austria’s Thermenregion. A high-yielding vine when planted in sites that are warm enough for it, Rotgipfler is decreasing in popularity, and little more than 100 ha is now planted. Although it’s late-ripening, Rotgipfler retains good acidity. Its high extract content and alcohol result in spicy, textured wines with an overtly aromatic profile.
