This varietal was once planted up on the hill where the winery is but today Chardonnay is an anomaly, as David Arthur learned that this varietal does was not the best suited for him home vineyard. The Chardonnay grapes for this wine have been sourced for the last decade from the Oak Knoll District and Stagecoach Vineyard in Napa Valley, the family cherishes their relationships with these independent growers that offer small parcels and unique clonal selections.
David Arthur's Chardonnay offers a balance of ripe tropical fruit with restrained winemaking technique. Light golden green hues evolke aromas of green apple, pineapple and tropical guava. there are also hints of lemon citrus and suggestions of toasted oak spice and creme caramel. ON the tongue this wine has a creamy texture and a rather long finish evolking notes of mineral and a firm hand of acidity holding things in place with a persistence of stone fruit through the finish. Finish 45+ Most Excellent
