Makes everyone feel fine!
You got yours, and I got mine -
Wine, Wine, Wine, Wine, Wine!
Cabernet Sauvignon is the most popular red wine in the world today and when it comes to immediate gratification wines this varietal it is hard to beat.
Most people know about Napa Valley's Cabernet Sauvignon and although it only accounts for around 3-5% of the total production in terms of volume it is probably closer to 40-50% of all the total volume in terms of dollars. They do make great Cabernet Sauvignon in Sonoma and even places like the Santa Cruz Mountains but the most sought after Cabernet Sauvignon from California comes from Napa Valley.
The Cabernet Sauvignon grape is a relatively new invention it is the result of the combination of a white varietal Sauvignon Blanc and a red grape Cabernet Franc crossed by some mad grape scientist in southwest France in the 17th century. Because of its thick skin and relative ease of cultivation this varietal has spread around the world and makes high quality full bodied red wines in many parts of the wine world.
California Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the easiest wine tastings to sell, can you say immediate gratification, but these wines can age for 20+ years in a very good vintage. Cabernet Sauvignon always draws a crowd and this is a walk around wine tasting featuring over a dozen different Cabernet Sauvignon’s mostly from Napa Valley. The fee for this tasting is $95 + tax for reservations call 954-523-9463 or e-mail andy@winewatch.com.

2023 Charles Krug Sauvignon Blanc Napa
Price: $19.50`` Your Price: $17.16
Fruit for our Sauvignon Blanc, principally sourced from our historic St. Helena estate, was hand-picked in the cool of night to ensure it reached the winery in pristine condition. The freshly picked grapes were cold-soaked on the skins for 6-8 hours before going to press, a process that enhances the fruit’s natural aromatics. The wine was cold fermented slowly in stainless steel tanks to further its wonderfully aromatic bouquet and delicate flavor profile. This light-to-medium bodied wine displays vibrant aromas of white floral/lemon blossom, lemon verbena, honeydew melon, pink grapefruit, passionfruit, pink guava, lime skin and lemongrass. On the palate it is sweet and crisp, with flavors of pink grapefruit, guava, lemon blossom, bartlett pear, and lemon grass.
After several droughty winters, the Napa Valley enjoyed higher than usual rainfall during the winter of 2022 to 2023, replenishing the deep soil moisture. Spring was cool and as a result, the vine and grape development was delayed by about two weeks throughout the season. The summer was warm and steady, with no extremes. A combination of cool nights, warm days, and plenty of water in the soil allowed a long, slow ripening period, and later harvesting. This long and gentle ripening resulted in beautiful aromatics and good acids in the whites.

1995 Jessandra Vittoria Cabernet Sauvignon Sonoma
Price: $55.00 Your Price: $48.40
A year of weather extremes marked the 1995 vintage, which saw winter floods, spring rains and a June hailstorm. The dramatic weather events got the growing season off to a late start, and although summer heat pushed grapes to maturity, harvest was late and yields were down. Moderate Indian Summer temperatures permitted extended hang time for red varieties, important to the development of rich flavors and deep color. Overall, vintners characterized the year as late, light and luscious. -napavintners.com
1988 William Hill Estate Winery Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley, USA
Price: $115.00 Sale Price: $95.00
William Hill Estate rests on the gently rolling hills of the Silverado Bench at the foot of the ancient Vaca Mountains, rising from the Valley floor in Southern Napa. Unlike the rich, sandy loam soils that dominate the Valley floor, benchland soils tend to be rocky, thin and nutrient-deprived. Similar to mountain fruit, vines here struggle to find water deep within the soil, resulting in small berries with intense color and flavor. This translates to exceptionally balanced wines with vivid fruit characteristics and refined acidity. At our William Hill Estate vineyards, we have significant variations in elevation, drainage and sun exposure, even from row to row. These variations also mean some areas are more reminiscent of the fertile Valley floor. Our vineyards were planted to highlight these differences, with some blocks as small as one-tenth of an acre. Each block is picked at its optimal ripeness and fermented separately, allowing the full expression of our land to be brought to the bottle.
